  • Call for Student Representatives

    The IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (IEEE-RAS) Technical Committee on Collaborative Automation for Flexible Manufacturing would like to invite Student Representative volunteers to join us and support our activities.

    As a Student Representative, you will work closely with the Co-Chairs, assisting in the organization and coordination of technical activities. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Contributing to the planning, organization, and execution of committee events and initiatives, from online meetings and seminars to in-person workshops and networking events at flagship conferences (e.g., ICRA and IROS).
    • Supporting the promotion of the TC and recruiting new student members.
    • Representing the student perspective within the committee.

    This role will provide you with the opportunity to network with professionals and researchers working on collaborative automation for flexible manufacturing, gaining leadership experience and contributing to the advancement of the field.

    The term starts on March 1, 2026, and ends on February 28, 2027. The term can be renewed for up to 3 consecutive years, subject to satisfactory performance and eligibility. Each student may apply to only one TC.

    Requirements:

    • Enrollment in a PhD or MSc program relevant to Collaborative Automation for Flexible Manufacturing.
    • Ability to commit to the role as volunteer for the term (1 year)
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Current student member of IEEE-RAS.

    Dear Robo-Colleagues,

    The IEEE Robotics & Automation Society (RAS) is excited to announce an open position for a “Student Representative” to support the activities of the Technical Committee on Collaborative Automation for Flexible Manufacturing (https://ieee-cafm.org/). This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the field and to connect with leading professionals working on collaborative robotics and AI.

    Role Description:

    As a Student Representative, you will work closely with the Chair and Co-Chairs of the Technical Committee on Collaborative Automation for Flexible Manufacturing, assisting in the organization and coordination of technical activities.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    1. Assisting in the planning and execution of committee events and initiatives (e.g., meetings, workshops etc.).
    2. Co-Managing the Twitter and LinkedIn pages of the TC.
    3. Promoting the committee’s work and recruiting new student members.
    4. Representing the student perspective within the committee.

    Requirements:

    1. Current enrollment in a Ph.D. or M.S.-Ph.D. program related to collaborative robotics.
    2. Membership in the IEEE RAS TC on Collaborative Automation for Flexible Manufacturing (enroll here).
    3. Demonstrated interest in the field of collaborative robotics.
    4. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    5. Ability to commit to the role and volunteer for 2-3 years.
